Survey of Western Art - Dr. SWAPNA SATHISH

While looking at the art of the past we often have questions... Did the ancient Greeks really look as good as their sculptures? What makes the Renaissance special? Why is the Mona Lisa so famous? How can I understand Modern Art? What happened to portrait artists when photography was invented? What am I looking at in Abstract Art?

This lecture series seeks to answer these and other pertinent questions. It will survey Western Art from Classical Greece and Rome through medieval Europe, discuss the masters of the Renaissance and Baroque, move through the Age of Enlightenment and the birth of Modernism and Postmodernism.
